芡實 ，中藥材，別名雞頭米、雞頭苞、雞頭蓮、刺蓮藕、肇實等，為睡蓮科植物芡的干燥成熟種仁。以顆粒飽滿，均勻，粉性足，無破碎、干燥無雜質者為佳。
      
    淮濱芡實，俗稱“雞頭菱”。生于池。沼、溝、塘、湖泊中，其種仁、根部皆可入藥，性平味甘澀，具有益精、補脾、止瀉功能，淮濱縣全境均有，主產淮河以南的張莊、期思、王店等鄉。其藥用在淮濱由來以久。建國前各藥店收購，加工供配方使用，小部分外銷。建國后年收購量銳增，曾達5萬公斤以上。芡實家植較易，在終年不干涸且有淤泥的水域中，選新鮮老熟種子撒在水中，埋入水底淤泥以防魚類吞吃，翌年即可出苗生長。
