主產于河南新鄭、中牟等地，也是新鄭棗區的主栽品種之一，約占新鄭棗區總產量的30％，是我國紅棗出口拳頭產品，主要固定銷到東南亞和日本等地，經濟效益較高。　　
       
    果實較小，平均單果重5.6g，大小整齊。‘雞心棗’的代表型為雞心狀，果皮薄，果肉厚，致密，質細，味極甜，可溶性固形物含量31％以上，可食率 91.8％，是優良的制干品種，制干率較灰棗高，干棗可食率約為90.3％，核小，肉質較緊實，有彈性，耐壓擠，耐貯藏，品質極上。　　　　
       
    果實于9月中旬成熟。樹勢較旺、豐產、穩產，抗干旱、耐鹽堿、耐瘠薄、抗干熱風、抗病蟲能力強，特別是抗棗縮果病。成熟季節遇雨不裂果。因與酸棗親緣關系較近，因而用酸棗作砧木改接后豐產、穩產性好。最棗中的優良品種，可大面積推廣栽培。新鄭小棗為地理標志商標。
